SPH files amended defense to litigation case
This is in relation to legal proceedings against it by Samuel Cranage Baker and Jeremy Lee Chuen Yang.
Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) and its wholly owned subsidiary SPH Interactive (SPHI) has filed an amended defense and counterclaim in relation to legal proceedings against it by Samuel Cranage Baker and Jeremy Lee Chuen Yang (Plaintiffs).
SPH said that the plaintiffs had obtained leave from the High Court of Singapore on 16 June to further amend their writ of summons and statement of claim.
In their amended statement of claim, the plaintiffs have alleged StreetSine Technology Group (SSTG) chairman Leslie Fong Yin Leong along with SPH, SPHI, and SSTG chief executive Jason Barakat-Brown to cause SPHI to breach the terms of a shareholders’ agreement and/or carry out acts of oppression against them.
The plaintiffs also further allege that Fong has acted in breach of his directors’ duties and exercised his powers as chairman and director of SSTG in a manner which was oppressive to the plaintiffs. The reliefs sought by the plaintiffs in the claim remain, who are also seeking damages against Fong for the alleged unlawful means conspiracy.
To date, Fong has not filed his defense, and the plaintiffs have not filed their replies to the defenses filed by SPH, SPHI, and Barakat-Brown.
SPH’s board believes that the allegations in the claim are unmeritorious and groundless and is not expected to have a material impact on the company’s operations for the current financial year ending 31 August.
