The frequent use of transport apps could have boosted in-app payments.
Singapore leads Asia’s adoption of in-app payment systems at 19%, possibly due to the prevalence of transport apps such as Grab and Uber, Paypal revealed.
According to a study, Singapore is also the most knowledgeable towards in-app payments. About 29% are aware of in-app payments, compared to 25% in Indonesia.
About 49% use contactless credit cards, the highest in Asia. This was followed by Hong Kong at 19%.
However, 43% of Singaporeans still use cash, albeit significantly lower than 75% of India, the highest in the region.
Amongst Singaporeans, 100% have internet access and 98% own smartphones.
