Tripartite committee formed to review workplace fairness: MoM

The Tripartite Committee on Workplace Fairness targets to complete its work by H1 2022.

A tripartite committee was formed to review the framework for workplace fairness in Singapore, tackling issues such as discrimination at work, the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) said Tuesday.

The Tripartite Committee on Workplace Fairness will be co-chaired by the MoM, secretary-general of National Trades Union Congress, and president of Singapore National Employers.

It will also be composed of employer, union, human resource community and senior government representatives.

“The tripartite partners remain committed to ensuring fair workplaces with equal opportunities for all. The TCWF will examine policy options to strengthen our efforts to tackle workplace discrimination and uphold workplace fairness, including whether legislative protections should be pursued, and if so, the appropriate scope,” the MoM said.

“The TCWF will consult stakeholders, including unions and employers, as well as engage widely to get a good representation of views from society. The TCWF aims to complete its work by the first half of 2022,” it added.

The ministry said tripartite partners have worked to tackle discrimination at workplace and actively promoted progressive employment practices, which efforts include the set-up of Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices, development and enforcement of the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices, and introduction and enforcement of the Fair Consideration Framework.
