SID rolls out initiatives to enhance directors’ regulatory competencies
The programmes will begin in 2025.
The Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) has launched new initiatives to build directors' competencies to keep up with changes in regulations that govern them.
The first initiative is the Listed Entity Director Bridging Programme, which includes five modules on regulatory compliance and corporate governance for newly appointed directors of listed companies.
The programme will begin in March 2025, but enrolment will open in November.
SID will also roll out Singapore Governance for Outstanding Organisation Directors Programme 2.0 for charity board members.
Co-developed by SID and the National Council of Social Service, the updated programme covers governance for non-profit organisations based on the latest Code of Governance for Charities and Institutes of a Public Character.
The course includes new topics like anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, sustainability, and digitalisation. Registration for the course will open in February 2025 and classes will begin in June 2025.
Next year, SID will also release Cyber Resilience Guide for Boards, a playbook designed to help board members build cyber resilience within their organisations.
It will provide an overview of the regulatory environment of Singapore-listed companies, discuss the responsibilities of directors of listed entities, and describe the functions of boards and committees.
