And NTU teams up with NRF and HP for $81m corpo innovation lab.

From Channel News Asia:

The Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) revealed that the new SingPass mobile app have been traced to have a software error after several users experienced receiving a ‘121’ error code whilst trying to log into the app hours after it launched.

"This was due to a software error, which was not picked up during testing, and resulted in issues when a high volume of users tried to register for SingPass Mobile," said a GovTech spokesperson, adding that the issue has since been resolved.

The agency said there have been more than 20,000 successful app installations since its launch on Monday, and encouraged affected users to try registering again.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused. The team will continue to work on other feedback and improve the app," said GovTech on its Facebook page.

From Reuters:

British billionaire and inventor James Dyson chose Singapore over Europe as the market where his firm will build electric cars to be nearer Asian customers, supply chains and a highly skilled workforce.

“The decision of where to make our car is complex, based on supply chains, access to markets, and the availability of the expertise that will help us achieve our ambitions,” Dyson chief executive Jim Rowan said after Singapore was chosen on Tuesday.

It said it would build a new two-storey manufacturing facility in the city state, scheduled for completion in 2020, with the first cars rolling off production lines a year later.

Prime minister Lee Hsien Loong said: “Singapore used to assemble cars until the 1980s. Now we will manufacture cars again, except this time greener, better, and more high tech!”
