Chart of the Day: Share of tertiary-educated workers rose to 54.6% in ten years
Most of the increase was from degree holders which grew to 36%.
This chart from the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) shows the proportion of tertiary-educated workers grew from 39.3% in 2007 to 54.6% in 2017.
MoM said this indicates the education profile of the resident labour force continued to improve.
Most of the increase was from degree holders, whose share in the workforce grew from 23% to 36% in 2017.
The proportion of workers with a diploma and professional qualifications also increased from 16% to 18.9%.
Amongst those that finished at the non-tertiary level, only the share of those with post-secondary qualifications increased from 8.8% to 11.3%.
The proportion of secondary and below secondary finishers decreased from 24% to 16.5% and 27.9% to 17.6%, respectively.
