Temasek's Pavilion imports first carbon neutral LNG cargo

Lowering carbon dioxide emissions - which is one of Temasek's stated goals - can help mitigate climate change.

Pavilion Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Temasek, has completed its first import of carbon neutral LNG into Singapore.

This is a first not just for Pavilion, but for the Lion City as well.

"The carbon neutral cargo is another important milestone for Pavilion Energy in our ambition to provide cleaner energy and develop our carbon neutral trading activities. Our aim is to support our customers in their transition towards a lower carbon future," said Pavilion CEO Frederic Barnaud in a statement.

The carbon emissions associated with the LNG cargo from well-to-tank include transportation, extraction, production and regasification.

This would be offset by retiring a corresponding amount of high-quality carbon credits sourced from Pavilion's portfolio of carbon offset projects in Peru and China, both designed to protect and restore forests.
