Sembcorp consortium to supply Japan with India-produced green ammonia
Japan aims to import 3 million tonnes of ammonia for fuel by 2030.
Sembcorp Industries’ wholly-owned subsidiary, Sembcorp Green Hydrogen, has entered a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Sojitz Corporation (Sojitz) and Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Kyushu Electric) to supply Japan with green ammonia produced in India.
Under the MOU, the parties will seek to pursue opportunities to supply green ammonia to Japan.
The parties will pursue the construction of green ammonia facilities in India, with Sembcorp as the lead developer.
Meanwhile, Sojitz and Kyushu Electric will oversee the transport of the green ammonia to Japan and secure off-takers in Japan.
