Sembcorp to build $900m multi-utilities centre in Jurong Island

It will have a 600MW hydrogen-ready power plant, developed by Mitsubishi Power and Jurong Engineering.

Sembcorp Industries will develop a new multi-utilities centre in Jurong Island, which is expected to supply power, steam, firewater, and deminerlaised water to customers.

Construction is estimated to commence in the second half of the year, and will be fully operational by 2026.

Development of the centre is estimated to cost S$900m. Sembcorp plans to finance the construction through a mix of internal cash resources and external bank borrowings, Sembcorp said in a press release announcing the project.

The planned facility will include a new 600MW hydrogen-ready power plant.

Sembcorp Cogen, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sembcorp, has awarded the consortium of Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific and Jurong Engineering a turkey contract for the development of the power plant.

Mitsubishi Power has also been awarded a long-term service agreement for the maintenance of the power plant.
