Schneider Electric to invest $1.2m on Singapore’s Sustainable Tropical Data Centre Testbed

Energy leader Schneider Electric plans to invest $1.2m as part of a collaboration with Sustainable Tropical Data Centre Testbed in Singapore, the first data centre testbed in the region.

In a statement, Schneider Electric said it will supply Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and incorporate EcoStruxure Building Operations, specialty building management system, to enhance the energy and efficiency of the project. It will also serve on the executive committee for industry expertise and insights.

The testbed will serve as a platform for establishing operating guidelines and industry standards. The goal is to formulate green and efficient cooling solutions for data centres, specifically intended to address the challenging high-temperature and humidity operation in the region’s tropical climates.

The testbed is sponsored by the National Research Foundation, Singapore and hosted at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Alongside NUS, the data centre is endorsed by industry partners. Research activities will be co-hosted by the university and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
