Linde breaks ground for $1.9b Jurong site expansion

It will be used to support the expansion of its partner ExxonMobil.

Industrial gases and engineering company Linde held a groundbreaking ceremony for its $1.9b integrated manufacturing complex expansion located at its existing gasification facility on Jurong, an announcement revealed.

The company said that the new complex will quadruple its current production capacity in Singapore to produce and supply hydrogen and synthesis gas, which in turn will support the multibillion-dollar expansion of partner ExxonMobil Asia Pacific (APAC)’s integrated manufacturing complex.

“This expansion of our existing facilities on Jurong Island, at an investment of $1.9b (US$1.4b), is the single largest for our company globally” said Sanjiv Lamba, executive vice president and CEO of Linde APAC.

Linde is deploying an execution strategy with a process concept and design and the full EPC developed by Linde Engineering. Meanwhile, the overall construction of the plant will be executed out of its hubs in China, India and Germany, and in partnership with regional and local process construction companies.

Over the next four years, Linde’s Singapore arm said that they will also be undertaking a number of projects to integrate the new complex and its existing facility, and assured existing customers of continued gas supply during the construction period.
