Keppel Electric's ecoGreen encourages residents to switch to green electricity

The group also partnered with several banks to offer solar panel financing plans.

Keppel Electric launched ecoGreen, a green electricity retail plan for residential customers that give them the opportunity to opt for carbon-neutral energy from renewable sources.

Under the plan, internationally recognised Renewable Energy Certificates from Singapore will be retired annually for ecoGreen plan customers. This will certify that the units of electricity consumed are from renewable energy sources.

Customers living in terrace, semi-detached or detached landed housings will also have the option to install solar panels on their premises. They will be given the option to sell back excess solar energy to the grid under the Enhanced Central Intermediary Scheme managed by SP Group. Sales will be reflected as export rebates in their SP bill. 

DBS and UOB, with the DBS Green Renovation Loan and UOB 0% credit card installment payment plan under the U-Solar Programme, respectively, also entered into partnerships with Keppel Electric.

Not only will this help reduce Keppel Electric’s carbon footprint, it will also make it easier for our customers and the community to contribute to a lower carbon economy and embrace greener lifestyles. This is part of Keppel’s Vision 2030, where we have put sustainability at the core of our strategy,” said Cindy Lim, CEO of Keppel Infrastructure, parent company of Keppel Electric.

Previous initiatives by Keppel Electric to provide sustainable energy include an exclusive framework agreement with Electricite Du Laos signed in September 2021 as part of the Lao PDR-Thailand-Malaysia-Singapore Power Integration Project.
