Hyflux’s dwindling order book gets massive boost from $750m waste-to-energy deal

It will generate 120MW of clean energy per day.

The global environmental solutions company, along with its partner Mitsubishi, was selected by the National Environment Agency to build the island nation's sixth WTE plant.

According to a statement by Hyflux, the company will hold 75% of the project and will undertake engineering, procurement and construction works worth $636m.

The plant will process 3,600 tonnes of waste per day and is slated to be completed by 2019.

However, analysts from OCBC said the project may not have material impact for Hyflux in 2015, but it will replenish its diminishing EPC order book.

"For one, the WTE plant will be located on a 4.8-hectare site next to the Tuaspring Integrated Water and Power Project; it will also be able to process 3,600 tonnes of waste per day and generate 120 MW of clean and renewable electricity, which should yield some operational synergies and also increase Hyflux’s overall energy generation capacity," OCBC said.
