How much did local oil and gas workers earn last year?

They got over twice the average wage.

In spite of the oil rout, workers in Singapore’s oil and gas sector still received an average salary of over $118,000 (US$88,488) in 2014, a report by recruiting firm Hays Oil & Gas revealed.

This is over twice the yearly average wage for full-time employed residents in 2014, which the Ministry of Manpower estimates to be about $45,240. 38% of workers in the industry were locals, while 62% were expatriates.

The report also showed that 80% of the sector’s employees received benefits last year, the highest in Asia Pacific.

The most common benefits were bonuses, which were awarded to 51% of employees. 39% of workers had health plans, while 28% had transport allowances. 27% were given extra training while 18% had home leave allowance.
