YTL Corporation wins regional Singapore Environmental Achievement Award

YTL’s subsidiary in Singapore, YTL PowerSeraya, has reduced its carbon emissions by 30% over the past decade.

This helped YTL Corporation Berhad win top honours for its achievements in sustainability in the Regional Category of the Singapore Environmental Achievement Awards 2012.

YTL PowerSeraya has reduced its carbon emissions through overall achievements in plant efficiency and by switching to less carbon intensive fuels.

In addition, it has achieved water sufficiency of 98% where its power plants’ water demands are met by its in-house seawater desalination plant, recycled water called NEWater and reclaimed industrial water.

This is the first year the Singapore Environment Council has introduced the Regional Category to recognise organisations in Southeast Asia committed to environmental and social responsibility.
