Senoko Energy takes delivery of gas turbine

This is part of Senoko’s repowering programme to launch environmentally-friendly gas-fired units.

Senoko Energy unveiled a new 701F4 gas turbine from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, as part of its Stage 2 repowering programme.

The 701F4, the most advanced and most efficient F-class turbine from MHI, will support Senoko Energy in its ongoing efforts to provide competitively-priced electricity in an environmentally-sustainable way.

Mr Brendan Wauters, President & CEO of Senoko Energy, said: “The delivery of this first gas turbine is an important milestone in our Stage 2 repowering programme. This project is of great importance to Senoko Energy, as it positions us well to maintain our leading position as an environmentally-conscious generator in the Singapore market. The gas turbine delivery is the most recent milestone in Senoko’s Stage 2 repowering programme. As part of this programme, which was announced in September 2008, Senoko Energy will transform three thirty-year-old oil-fired units with a capacity of 250 MW each into two technologically advanced and environmentally-friendly gas-fired 430MW combined cycle units with a capacity of 430 MW each.

The repowered units, named CCP6 and 7, are scheduled for full commercial operation in the second half of 2012.
