Retailers' remedy: UOB turns to integrated cloud-based solution to offer businesses smarter processes

Today’s volatile economic environment is not an easy one for retailers to navigate in, especially with challenging retail and industry conditions such as manpower crunch, rising costs, managing HR and payroll, customer experience and employee retention, amidst many other concerns.

Retailers can then be caught in a complex balancing act between reducing the costs of operating the business with increasing productivity.

Aware of the predicaments that retailers are currently facing, United Overseas Bank (“UOB”) collaborates with Newstead Technologies (“Newstead”) to introduce BizSmart, an integration of 5 cloud-based digital applications from separate service providers that manages major business operations efficiently.

Here is a rundown of the applications retailers can enjoy through BizSmart's novel approach:

  • Xero: An accounting software for small businesses and their financial advisors that provides a direct account feed from UOB to Xero, allowing users to easily view and reconcile bank account transactions.
  • Vend: A point-of-sale (POS) and inventory management solution used by retailers to manage sales, inventory, and reports.
  • Deputy: An employee management solution that manages employee scheduling, time and attendance tracking.
  • HReasily: A payroll software integrated with UOB Business Internet Banking Plus (BIBPlus) to issue itemised payslips in accordance with Ministry of Manpower mandate.
  • MobileIron: A mobile device management that efficiently configures, manages and secures company-owned iOS devices.

The smart way to run your business

With BizSmart, it offers a comprehensive bundle at 40% of the cost that retailers typically pay for traditional silo solutions, applications that are constantly up-to-date with automatic software releases, and the convenience of a single invoice and a single point-of-contact for technical and sales support from Newstead.

With secured interactions between the applications, retailers can reduce manual processes and digitize back office by introducing informed critical workflows. In addition, live data are available on cloud, allowing them to make better and timely decisions confidently.

Retailers do not need to worry about data loss as the applications ensure protocols are set to protect your business information from any unauthorized person or in the event of device loss.

The benefits of BizSmart for retail businesses have been highlighted, how about non-retail businesses? Are there solutions for them as well? UOB has got them covered too. BizSmart has a lite bundle that includes Xero and HReasily solutions for non-retail operations.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
