Zimplistic Private Limited wins Designed in Singapore Award for Appliances

The Rotimatic robot significantly slashes the time it takes to make flatbread.

Singapore Business Review acknowledged the most innovative products that have been established as industry game-changers during the recently concluded Made in Singapore and Designed in Singapore Awards.

Back on its second year to merit outstanding products manufactured and conceptualised in the country, this year's awards programme recognised companies who brought pride to Singaporean innovation and workmanship.

By inventing Rotimatic, the world's first IoT and AI enabled flatbread kitchen robot, Zimplistic Private Limited founded in 2008 by Pranoti Nagarkar and Rishi Israni won the Designed in Singapore Award for appliances.

Built with the intention of becoming a platform, Rotimatic is a connected device with IoT capabilities like remote troubleshooting. It also offers software upgrades, which allows it to serve flatbread variants such as chapatis, tortillas, pizza base, wraps, puris, and specialty wraps.

With the new robotic technology stack, Rotimatic has enabled the successful automation of the flatbread-making process.

Flatbread is traditionally made by hand and making it at home requires time, effort and high level of skill. Because of this, people resort to frozen, unhealthy alternatives, despite the fact that flatbreads need to be eaten fresh.

Rotimatic solves this and grants customers 100 percent control over what goes in their flatbreads.

With many world-firsts under its belt, Rotimatic is packed with engineering innovations, owning 37 patents. It produces fresh flatbreads in 90 seconds, solving the dilemma of making flatbreads.

Generating a whopping revenue of $40 million in the fiscal year of 2017 to 2018, Rotimatic is currently present in over 40,000 homes worldwide with customers having made 32 million rotis.

The average Rotimatic customer makes 35 rotis every week consistently per home, and 85 percent of the customers give a Happy or Super Happy rating after every roti-making session.

Rotimatic is available online on www.rotimatic.com, delivered within 7 days in 19 countries. No more waitlist.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
