PSB Academy bags SBR National Business Awards for Education

The Future Academy hosts over 12,000 students from over 50 nationalities with its slate of certificate, diploma, degree and postgraduate programmes every year.

PSB Academy is devoted to excellence in teaching, learning, and developing leaders across disciplines to make a difference globally. For this, it won the Singapore Business Review National Business Award for Education.

In 2016, the Academy was conferred “Best Private Education Institution in Singapore” by the Business Excellence and Research Group and earned a PRISM award for its "Outstanding Overall Corporate Reputation programme" by the Institute of Public Relations Singapore. Its brand in 2017 also captured a dominant share-of-voice for media coverage in the private education space.

One of the Academy's greatest strengths, maintained from its heritage as the national productivity and standards board, is its track record of producing graduates who are industry-ready. In its 2017 Graduate Employment Survey, graduates saw an 89% employment rate, and about 2 in 3 graduates said their programme helped them acquire skills to perform better at their jobs. Today, The Future Academy hosts over 12,000 students from over 50 nationalities with its slate of certificate, diploma, degree and postgraduate programmes every year.

The Academy recognises that there is a unique opportunity to make an impact beyond its shores, and aim to leverage its education expertise in Singapore, to provide deserving students seeking international qualifications access to quality education, to build up the capabilities of graduates regionally. In anticipation of Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship this year, for example, the Academy launched a regional scholarship initiative, a first for Singapore’s private education institution sector. This initiative aims to inspire budding talents from the region to do well at their studies with PSB and go on to help others in their local community thrive in the New Economy.

In support of its ASEAN ambitions, the Academy, through our parent company Star Education Group (SEG), was able to make significant developments in our collaborations with local colleges overseas, especially in Myanmar and Indonesia. In 2017, a year after SEG partnered with Chindwin College in Yangon and the University of Portsmouth, UK,the Academy celebrated its first successful batch of Engineering graduates, equipped to contribute to the country’s growing industries. Since then, it has expanded its partnership with Chindwin, to now offer Civil Engineering and Business Management programmes to students. Together with Chindwin, the Academy is building one of the premier institutes of higher education in Myanmar, at a critical time of their development.

In Indonesia, SEG launched a partnership with the Raffles Group of Schools, a premier education group with a track record of academic excellence. Together, they are partnering to support Raffles College, a leading higher education college in Jakarta, to work with University of Hertfordshire, UK, so they can become the first college in Jakarta to offer a standalone UK tertiary programme to students looking for an international education experience in their home country.

The SBR National Business Awards was held on May 17, 2018 at the Conrad Centennial Singapore.

This year's nominations were judged by a panel consisting of Ng Jiak See, executive director and head of corporate finance advisory at Deloitte Singapore & Southeast Asia; Choo Eng Chuan, ASEAN markets leader and partner, international and corporate tax services at Ernst & Young Solutions LLP; Toh Kim Teck, assurance partner at Foo Kon Tan LLP; and Henry Tan, managing director at NEXIA TS.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
