MHE-Demag bags SBR International Business Awards for Building Services and Facilities

MHE-Demag achieved a historical milestone in first full climbing building maintenance system.

Building solutions provider MHE-Demag was established in 1972 and operates within a close-knit regional network in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan,Australia, Cambodia, Myanmar and Papua New Guinea. The company offers a comprehensive range of industrial cranes and hoists, warehousing equipment, aerial work platforms, building maintenance units, compact construction equipment, as well as automated car parking systems.

MHE-Demag has been providing the solution and services in solving design, safety and functionality challenges of cleaning and maintenance for buildings in the past four decades. Building design has become more sophisticated as architects and engineers continuously push the boundaries of space and form. But these architectural wonders present challenges in building maintenance and cleaning and require deep attention to aesthetics, functionality, safety and sustainability. A building maintenance system or what is also commonly known as a gondola is customised and permanently installed to a building for these purposes.

The company has recently completed the first full climbing building maintenance system in South East Asia for Menara Astra. For this engineering milestone, MHE-Demag won the Singapore Business Review's International Business Award for Building Services and Facilities.

For the office tower, MHE-Demag has supplied two units of MHE-Manntech climbing building maintenance system with rack and pinion, tubular track system, one unit of shunting cart for interchangeable building maintenance system, safety line for every canopy and balcony, and MHE trolley with Chameleon I. The apartments, on the other hand, have three units of MHE-Manntech building maintenance system with two telescopic jibs and monorail with Chameleon I cradle installed.

The Menara Astra project is different from others because of two innovative features: uniquely designed tracks and the special shunting cart system that is seamlessly integrated into a 3D rail layout. There is a 550 meter of round track installed around a complex 3D beam layout covering a floor space of 38 by 56 square meters underneath a helipad. The track network stretches 32 meter vertically from the 46th floor at 228-meter height and ends at the tip of the roof facade at 260-meter. Each track and rack section varies between 3 to 6 meter are tailored to the profile of the building. Ninety percent of the tracks section is unique by itself with different bend profiles, shapes and lengths.

“We are pleased and humbled to receive this recognition for our work in helping building services and facilities across the region to carry out their operations safely and smoothly. Thanks to our highly experience, diligent and passionate staff in all 11 countries, we have built more than 2,000 building maintenance systems in South East Asia and beyond. It is our commitment to continue listening closely to our customers, designing highly advanced solutions and to never compromised quality, safety and care for our people, customers, business partners and communities,” said Karl Tilkorn, Regional Managing Director, MHE-Demag.

MHE-Demag’s building maintenance systems are installed in most of the iconic landmarks around Southeast Asia, such as Petronas Twin Tower in Malaysia, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, BNI 46 in Indonesia, Bitexco Financial Tower in Vietnam, KL Tower in Malaysia, and Okada Manila in the Philippines. All building maintenance systems are tailor-made based on the iconic buildings’ configuration.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
