Adventus Singapore Pte Ltd bags SBR National Business Awards for IT Services

Adventus' Managed Backup and Disaster Recovery Solution addresses disaster situations.

Because of this innovative approach, Adventus won the Singapore Business Review National Business Award for IT Services.

Adventus' client used to implement a tape backup system to back up production data. There were inherent challenges associated with this backup strategy. In the event of a disaster, data recovery can take time resulting in serious disruptions to their round-the-clock operations. Due to the huge amount of network and system resources required for tape backup solution, backup was executed once in a day leading to potential loss of critical production data. It was also difficult to validate the backup data stored on backup tapes as they did not have a complete set of latest data at any given time. The backup data were usually transported via a delivery van from the primary location to secondary location. In the event of a disaster at their primary location, they could lose some of their business data due to the long interval between backups.

Adventus' answered this challenge with an imaged-based backup solution, which is able to make backup effective in seconds whilst not impacting the operation of the servers and network resources. Thus, achieving low Recovery Point Objective (RPO), in matters of minutes between backups, this greatly reduces potential data loss. This solution is capable of spinning up a production application, be it a physical or virtual server from backup images or allows instantaneous retrieval of data through dependable granular recovery.

Intraday backups are kept for three months, daily images for one year and monthly images for 10 years, extremely useful in guarding against malicious attacks and historical data retrieval. Critical backup images are replicated offsite automatically and verified immediately to protect the integrity of the backup chain. This completely automated process eliminates the need for human intervention. As a result, Adventus' client was able to recover when disaster strike and resume normal operations within minutes as compared to hours previously, fully handled by Adventus’ managed services team.

The SBR National Business Awards was held on May 17, 2018 at the Conrad Centennial Singapore.
