Vividthree wins award for app designed for comic enthusiasts

Vividthree won the Media and Entertainment award for its innovative digital app.

Traditionally, comics and graphic novels have been known for their vibrant artwork and engaging stories, but they have been limited to a static, print format. ComicVid, a multi-language comic video platform developed by Vividthree Holdings Ltd., aims to change that by enhancing webcomics with motions and sound effects, bringing characters to life and creating a video-like viewing experience. 

Vividthree Holdings Ltd. received recognition for ComicVid, which provides talented comic creators with the opportunity to monetise their published and shared creations through activities such as merchandising, cartoon series, feature films, and other commercial initiatives. ComicVid also assists talented comic creators in enhancing their webcomics by adding motions and sound effects, bringing their stories to life.

The platform currently features a diverse range of illustrious webcomic titles contributed by renowned content creators, including DarkBox's popular hit "Silent Horror," which has accumulated 90 million views.

Since its launch in February 2019, ComicVid has garnered massive interest from users, tallying more than 140,000 downloads in Google Play and Apple stores. The platform also hit its first million views on Youtube without any marketing or advertising, and it gathered a total of 155,000 subscribers from various countries like Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, United States, India, and Mexico.

In March 2020, ComicVid achieved a rating as one of the top three trending free comic apps on Google Play store, with an overall 178,000 followers on Facebook. Vividthree Holdings launched ComicVid 1.1 in 2020, which guaranteed new interface options, including app customisation. The app allows for a great viewing experience based on the user’s chosen preferences upon signing up for their account and records user behaviour whilst using the app. 

For its innovative approach to comic reading, Vividthree Holdings Ltd. received the Media and Entertainment award at the recently concluded SBR National Business Awards. The prestigious annual awards programme launched in 2016 honours local and homegrown companies in Singapore and recognises outstanding projects that greatly contribute to Singapore’s fast-growing economy. The judging panel took into consideration various efforts of the company in launching the app.

According to the company, ComicVid 2.0 is expected to launch soon, with a focus on enhancing user experience. The new version will upgrade the user interface by adding further options, including allowing for the utilisation of voting buttons, the comment section, and its subscription feature.
