NEC Asia Pacific secures Facial Recognition - Healthcare Award at SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2024

The deployment of cutting-edge facial recognition technology in Singapore’s healthcare system transforms visitor management.

NEC Asia Pacific has earned a prestigious accolade in the Facial Recognition - Healthcare category at the SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2024. This award celebrates NEC's innovative deployment of facial recognition technology in Singapore's healthcare system. This recognition underscores the accuracy and security of NEC's biometric authentication system, which has been rigorously assessed to withstand attempts at deception using photographs, masks, or fake videos.

In collaboration with the healthcare industry, NEC’s introduction of its Facial Recognition Automated Visitor Management System (FRAVMS) has transformed the visitor’s experience, marking a significant advancement in healthcare visitor management. The FRAVMS system allows visitors to preregister remotely and gain a seamless and health-compliant entry using facial recognition and temperature detection capability.

This project aims at streamlining visitor experience seamlessly, contactless and securely. The system integrates with the national identification system, allowing healthcare visitors to register online and verify their identity through facial recognition via a selfie. This digital approach significantly reduces the need for manual registration, allowing the reallocation of valuable resources towards enhancing patient care.

NEC's involvement in this project reflects its commitment to delivering secure and user-friendly digital solutions. The company's Vice President, Mr Loke Siew Yeng, expressed pride in partnering with Singapore’s healthcare industry to introduce a platform that simplifies the visitor registration process whilst adhering to local hospital policies.

“Our Advanced Visitor Experience Platform offers a seamless and secure experience for users where citizens can simply register their identity via their mobile devices and proceed to enter the hospital vicinity smoothly and safely. It’s simple and contactless. This digital platform has the advanced capabilities to configure and manage the entire process based on stipulated local hospital policies. This helps to ensure safety and security whilst making it easier for the visitors. The platform is an extension of NEC's Smart Face Authentication solution, which features the world's No. 1 face authentication engine in terms of accuracy, as well as its outstanding flexibility and scalability,” said Mr Loke.
