Prakash Kamdar awarded Executive of the Year in advertising at SBR Management Excellence Awards

The dentsu Singapore CEO has exhibited remarkable leadership since 2019.

Prakash Kamdar has successfully led dentsu Singapore through a turnaround since taking on the role as CEO in 2019. Over the past two years, the Singapore business has been achieving never-before milestones both internally across its employee community and externally with clients and partners.

Under Kamdar’s leadership, employee engagement, leadership trust and community building have significantly improved despite the global pandemic and continues to be a focal commitment of his people-first approach. 

Along with the launch of three world-class integrated practices Dentsu Commerce, Dentsu Health, and Dentsu Gaming in Singapore, the dentsu Singapore team also offered the most integrated client delivery to-date, reflected by an all-time high client satisfaction this year.

Fuelled by Kamdar’s focus on strategic sectors and sustainable growth, further integration of its offerings and a strengthened eco-system of partnerships in the region, dentsu Singapore is on track to close 2021 with a strong return to pre-pandemic growth.  

For these achievements, Prakash Kamdar has been awarded the Executive of the Year – Advertising award in the recently concluded Singapore Business Review Management Excellence Awards. The annual awards programme recognises excellent executives, innovators and teams, as well as HR and company initiatives that promote the well-being of employees.

Kamdar’s achievements are the culmination of a three-year roadmap that he and his leadership team first laid out for the Singapore team back in 2019, with a single-minded objective of becoming the most integrated agency in Singapore.

Firstly, through the Power of One, an integrated collaborative structure that future-proofs its business to win, keep and grow their people and clients, Kamdar has been able to deeply infuse a culture of joined-up thinking and collaboration. The strategy concentrates on being ‘Available as One’ in the first year, ‘Scaling as One’ in the second, and eventually, having a ‘Culture of One’.  

Secondly, Kamdar has built purpose at the core of the Singapore business by committing the organisation to being a Force for Good and Growth. The company aims to support its market leading multinational clients (incumbents) to achieve balanced Good and Growth, whilst supporting already born-for-good start-ups to grow and scale through its capabilities.

Thirdly, Kamdar’s people-first management approach anchored on the principles of being authentic, transparent and empathetic, have been the key force in building a transparent and supportive culture, especially through the global pandemic.

In 2020, dentsu Singapore introduced ‘Be The Best You’, an enhanced flexi-workplace policy that focuses on value creation, trust and empowering its people. ‘Be The Best You’ continues to underpin dentsu Singapore's Future of Work 1.0, a radical work model that transforms the way its people work while reimagining the workplace. In taking care of his people, Kamdar has ensured that employees get support to manage their mental health and wellness through various wellness initiatives and WFH support.

In all, dentsu Singapore has enjoyed increasingly strong brand reputation in the industry, with more positive media coverage and media perception seen over the last two years, while employee engagement continues to improve among its people in the Singapore community.
