Photizo Global Pte. Ltd. Wins SBR Designed in Singapore Fixtures and Fittings Category Award

Photizo’s iCore™ Smart IoT Urban Pole merges functionality and aesthetics in one.

Today's urban lamp poles are not designed to accommodate the IoT devices and edge computing equipment needed for smart city deployments. Instead, such equipment and devices are simply strapped onto the outside of the poles. Worse, the required electrical and data wirings run along the outside of the poles, spoiling the aesthetics for parks, driveway, and landscaped environments.

Photizo Global’s iCore™ Smart IoT Urban Pole is a viable alternative to provide a fully capable Smart Pole without compromising aesthetics and functionality.

The iCore™ Smart IoT Urban Pole is a breakaway from traditional thinking about how lamp poles are constructed from hollow tubes. It differs in both form and function, transforming it into a sustainable, multi-functional, and aesthetic construct. It can meet all the requirements of a smart city deployment.

The iCore™ solution uses the center (core) as the support, with claddings surrounding it, this then creates spaces called Smart Compartments, into which equipment and devices can be easily and safely installed. An example could be  cameras to observe road conditions and constant traffic monitoring can improve traffic flow and facilitate emergency responses.

The claddings are not load bearing, enabling it to have cut-outs and be made of any material, for example, plastics. This creates an almost infinite possibility for creative design. An innovative approach to the cladding design allows for a hinged, door-like design, which vastly improves accessibility and ease of maintenance. This enables designers and city planners to quickly develop new concepts for secure, and sustainable smart city deployment by leveraging the iCore™ Smart IoT Urban Poles.

These poles are environmentally friendly as well. The iCore™ can be easily upgraded with new equipment without the need to remove or re-construct the poles. The Smart Compartments and replacements can be easily opened and replaced. This makes for a highly sustainable solution which can be refreshed and kept updated for years to come.

With iCore™, Photizo has participated in multiple smart city initiatives in Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, Middle East, etc. They have also embarked on technology collaborations with global solution providers such as Infineon, ST Engineering, Axis, and more. As a testament to its design excellence, the iCore™ Smart IoT Urban pole has won several other awards including the Red Dot for Innovative Product 2020, and the Australia Good Design Award 2021.

Photizo designs technologies that will make the transition to the future of smart cities easier, more intuitive, and more inspiring. Innovations such as iCore™ can greatly benefit the public in terms of safety, ease of movement, and a better environment, all while being aesthetically pleasing.
