Singapore-Malaysia high speed rail project terminated

Malaysia to compensate Singapore for costs already incurred.

The Kuala Lumpur – Singapore High Speed Rail Bilateral Agreement (HSR BA) has been terminated after Singapore and Malaysia failed to reach an agreement on several changes Malaysia proposed.

The HSR BA aimed to govern the project management of a new high-speed train line that would connect Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. It had hoped this would boost cross-border trade and business between the two countries.

Prime Minister of  Singapore Lee Hsien Loong and Prime Minister of Malaysia YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin bin Mohd Yassin met via videoconference on December 2, 2020 to review the status of the HSR Project, including changes proposed by Malaysia.

According to the Ministry of Transport, Malaysia has allowed the HSR BA to be terminated and will compensate SIngapore for costs already incurred whilst fulfilling its obligations under the agreement.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
