Keppel bags $19.5m tech solutions contract in China

It will commence the Nanshan II waste-to-energy plant expansion.

Keppel Infrastructure Holdings' wholly-owned subsidiary Keppel Segher Belgium, has secured a US$13.7m contract to provide technology and services to the Nanshan II waste-to-energy (WTE) plant in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China.

The contract, awarded by repeat customer Shenzhen Energy Environment Engineering Co., is for the expansion of the existing facility through the provision of the core equipment, design and technical services for the plant's furnace and boiler.

The Nanshan Phase II expansion, which is scheduled to be operational by end-2018, will add 1,650 tonnes per day of incineration capacity. This will therefore enable the whole facility to process up to 2,450 tonnes of municipal waste per day, up from the current 800 tonnes a day.

Keppel Infrastructure CEO Ong Tiong Guan said the project is Keppel Seghers' sixth contract win in China for 2016, and reinforces Keppel's position as the leader among imported WTE technology solutions providers in the country.
