Daily Briefing: More support for precision engineering sector to foster partnerships; Advanced materials maker Krosslinker raises $1.68m

And 1,200 visitors flocked to The Landmark’s preview.

From ChannelNewsAsia:

Firms in the precision engineering ecosystem will get more support to deepen their capabilities, with enhancements to a scheme meant to foster partnerships among local businesses announced on 16 November.

Under the enhanced Partnerships for Capability Transformation scheme, firms can benefit from more funding support for certain costs and an expanded scope of coverage until March 2022.

Speaking on the sidelines of a visit to precision engineering firm Rohde & Schwarz, Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing said the move is important because the sector is a bright spot with “huge growth prospects” amidst and beyond COVID-19.

“In the coming years, the advent of 5G technologies, the Internet of Things and all the new breakthroughs we see in the technological fields will require a lot of precision engineering behind the scenes,” he said, adding that sectors like biomedicine will also tap this field.

“This is the reason why we are making a strong push to continue to help our companies in this sector - to continue to grow from strength to strength to meet the increasing demand for such products and services,” Chan said.

From PropertyGuru:

The Landmark, a 39-storey residential project within the heritage-rich Outram District, attracted close to 1,200 visitors during its preview over the weekend.

Developed by Landmark JV, a joint venture between MCC Singapore, SSLE Development and ZACD Group, the development features 396 units of one- to three-bedroom apartments, with sizes ranging from 495 sq ft for a one-bedder to 1,141 sq ft for a three-bedder.

“We find the turnout in the first preview weekend to be highly encouraging especially in view of mandatory safe management measures which put a cap on the maximum allowable number of people inside the sales gallery and showsuites at any one time,” said a spokesman of The Landmark.

“All available appointment slots for the two weekend days were fully taken up.”

Notably, the developers offered nine time slots which started from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM over the weekend.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
