Qantas adds services to Changi Airport operations

Services to Melbourne will increase to 14x weekly.

Australian aviation firm Qantas Airways announced it will add services to Changi Airport starting 25 Mar to 27 Oct 2018, the northern summer season.

According to a press release, Qantas will operate its daily Sydney-London service via Singapore using an airbus A380.

Services to Melbourne will also increase from 10x to 14x weekly and combine A380 and A330 operations.

The additional services will provide an additional 3,806 one-way seats, 5.5% higher, on Singapore-Australia routes every week.

There will also be an additional 3,388 one-way seats, 18.3% higher, on Singapore-UK routes weekly.

Changi Airport Group managing director for Air Hub Development Lim Ching Kiat said “For passengers, there will be more flight options to Melbourne and London, both very popular destinations for Singaporeans. With Changi Airport as the preferred gateway for travel on the Kangaroo route, we look forward to welcoming passengers travelling between Australia and the UK. Both countries are amongst our top tourism source markets, and this development will spur visitor arrivals to Singapore.”

Australia is amongst Changi Airport’s top five country markets in terms of passenger traffic.

Around 5.5 million passengers travel between Singapore and Australia annually.

Passenger traffic between the two countries rose 3.6% YoY to 3.3 million.
