Report reveals 43% of Asian Pacific workers disatisfied with current jobs
Recently, a report showed that a large portion of workers in the Asia Pacific region, 43%, are feeling unsatisfied in their current jobs and seeking careers that hold more meaning for them. Jane Cruz-Walker, the Chief Marketing Officer at SEEK Asia, shared the findings of the report and explained the reasons behind this trend.
The report revealed that workers are searching for careers that have a personal significance and align with their values, interests, and skills. With people spending a third of their lives working, it's essential that they find purpose and fulfillment in their jobs. While the definition of a meaningful career may differ from person to person, it generally includes elements such as job satisfaction, a good match with personal abilities and passions, fair compensation, and the chance to make a positive impact.
Moreover, the recent pandemic has had a significant impact on mental health, which has also influenced workers' desires for more meaningful careers. The pandemic has taken a toll on people's physical and mental health all over the world, causing many to re-evaluate their priorities in life and work. Before the pandemic, the top three priorities for millennials in Singapore were salary, work-life balance, and job security, but now, employees' mental health and overall well-being are just as important in their career decisions.
