Sembcorp industries tapped to build floating solar farm

It will be used to power PUB’s water treatment processes.

National water agency PUB has appointed Sembcorp Industries wholly-owned subsidiary, Sembcorp Solar Singapore, to construct a 60MWp floating solar photovoltaic (PV) system on Tengeh Reservoir, according to press releases.

PUB will use the energy produced to power its water treatment processes. The system will be designed to meet 7% of PUB’s total energy needs. It is also expected to reduce around 32 kilotonnes of carbon emissions.

Furthermore, it is set to be amongst the world’s largest single floating solar PV systems once it is completed in 2021. Sembcorp will also have a 240MWp of solar capacity in the country by then.

Last June 2019, PUB called for a request for proposal (RFP) for private sector companies to design, build, own and operate (DBOO) a large-scale floating PV system for 25 years on Tengeh Reservoir. The RFP attracted bids from four local and overseas companies.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
