RSK Group to acquire water business in Singapore

Black & Veatch’s water businesses would be rebranded as Binnies.

International environmental, engineering and technical services firm RSK Group has announced that it is in the process of acquiring engineering, procurement, consulting and construction company Black & Veatch’s Water Europe and Water Asia businesses, including Black & Veatch (SEA) in Singapore.

The deal is slated to be completed early in 2021, and the water businesses would “move forward, continuing to provide sustainable and resilient water, wastewater and flood resilience projects, with existing management and employees but under a new brand as Binnies,” UK-headquartered RSK Group said in a statement.

“Most of you may recall that Black & Veatch (SEA) in Singapore operated as Binnie & Partners Singapore for several decades before 1995 and provided unrivalled engineering services in the water and wastewater sector to many countries in the region. The acquisition of Binnies by RSK not only continues this legacy of serving the community in the region with what it is best known for but also offers new environmental services that the RSK group brings to its clients all over the world,” Managing director of Binnies in Singapore, William Yong, said.

The acquisition of Binnies would increase RSK Group’s overall headcount from 4,300 to 5,500 employees worldwide. Meanwhile, the businesses comprising Binnies would add an estimate of $286.8m to RSK Group’s annual turnover.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
