Sembcorp inks three MoUs at groundbreaking of its China water technology hub

It will team up with PUB and NUS.

Sembcorp Industries has inked three deals at the groundbreaking event of its Nanjing International Water Hub (NIWH) on Jiangxinzhou in Nanjing city’s new central business district.

According to the Sembcorp’s media release, the first two MoUs were with Singapore’s Public Utilities Board (PUB) and National University of Singapore’s Centre for Water Research respectively to collaborate on a series projects that aim to help Singapore small and medium-sized enterprises bring technologies and water treatment solutions into international and Chinese markets.

The third MoU was signed with Sembcorp’s wholly-owned subsidiary Sembcorp (China) Holding to develop the Sembcorp Global Asset Management System (GAMS) for Water at NIWH. The system allows Sembcorp to enhance operations and effectiveness from a central control location at the NIWH.

“There is a growing need for innovative water solutions to meet water challenges, given the global challenges brought on by increasing environmental degradation, water shortage and stringent water quality standards worldwide,” commented Tang Kin Fei, Sembcorp’s group president and CEO.

“We believe this will catalyse the development and commercialisation of innovative water technologies applicable to both the Chinese and international markets,” added Tang.

Slated for completion in 2018, the NIWH is wholly owned and developed by Sembcorp. The facility not only gives technology developers access to its water facilities in China to test-bed their innovations, it also allows them to conduct performance tests in a controlled indoor environment.
