Ley Choon nabs $35.3m PUB water pipeline project

The contract propelled company’s order book up to $172m.

Utilities infrastructure company Ley Choon Group Holdings Limited bagged another Public Utilities Board contract worth $35.3 million for the laying of a new transmission steel pipeline for potable water. With this project, the group’s unfulfilled order book swelled to $172 million.

Ley Choon’s press release revealed that the new pipeline extends around 2 km in length and has a diameter of 2.2 metres. It will see potable water flow from Murnane Service Reservoir at Jalan Kampong Chantek to Pan Island Expressway/Rifle Range Road, improving water service for residents in the next few years.

To minimise the noise, dust and disruption due to pipe-jacking, the company will use the trenchless technology method. It works through a remotely controlled micro-tunnelling boring machine that will guide the entire installation process, Ley Choon explained.
