Darco seals $19.8m water treatment deals in 3 countries

The contracts are in China, Malaysia and Singapore.

In line with their hopes to enhancing research and development for environmental protection, Singapore mainboard-listed Darco Water Technologies was awarded three separate contracts in different countries for an aggregate amount of $19.8million.

The group managed to snag a contract for the 2 x 670MW ultra-supercritical heating generators at Bajiao power plant located in the Shandong Province, People’s Republic of China. This $9.9 million deal was awarded through its newly-acquired subsidiary, Wuhan Kaidi Water Services Co., Ltd (WHKD).

“Seawater is the main water source for the power plant due to freshwater scarcity. Thus, WHKD will be adopting reverse osmosis seawater desalination technology to remove minerals from seawater to provide fresh water to the power plants," the group said.

The subsidiary also secured contracts for the sales of trading parts and provision of technical services for $3.1 million in China.

More so, Darco also managed to clinch wastewater treatment EPC project in Malaysia for $2.4 million.

Meanwhile, the group's wholly-owned Singapore subsidiary, PV Vacuum Engineering Pte. Ltd. successfully won the bid for a pneumatic waste conveyance system worth S$4.4 million.

According to Darco CEO Thye Kim Meng, the above projects are expected to have a positive material impact on the revenue of the Group for the financial year ending this December.

"The contract wins also pave the way for greater opportunities to the Group in the industry. With the Group’s strong technology capabilities, together with Wuhan Kaidi’s technical expertise, the Group is well-positioned for the next phase of accelerated growth,” he said.
