Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to undergo a $20m revamp

Singapore Cruise Centre will carry out upgrade works from January to December 2024.

The Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT) will undergo a $20m upgrade to modernise its facilities and enhance passenger experience and position for growth, the Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC) announced.

The upgrade will include the installation of self-service kiosks, automated immigration lanes, a bag-drop machine, a redesigned interior, additional F&B outlets, more lounges and a play area, self-service kiosks, new counters for passengers, and revamped toilets.

The upgrade will expand the terminal’s capacity by 20%, allowing TMFT to serve over three million passengers in the future.

SCC will carry out upgrade works in stages, from January to December 2024, with no changes to ongoing ferry services, including ferry schedules.

Meanwhile, construction in key passenger areas will commence in phases in March to minimise inconvenience to passengers.

“Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal remains an important regional gateway for Singapore to the Riau Islands of Batam and Bintan, and Desaru Coast and Tanjung Pengelih in Malaysia. The makeover of the terminal and automation of our services to improve efficiency are timely as we position the terminal for future growth,” Jacqueline Tan, SCC Chief Executive, said.
