Singpost says its Europe-bound postal services disrupted
Public advised to postpone mailing to European countries amidst volcanic eruption in Iceland.
Due to the closure of major airports within Europe as a result of ash cloud from a volcanic eruption in Iceland, postal services bound for European destinations are disrupted.
As such, international air mail service including registered articles and parcel items from Singapore to Europe and vice versa is subject to delay. Like all other postal administrations, SingPost is monitoring the situation closely.
Members of the public are advised to defer mailing to European countries for the meantime. For items already in the custody of SingPost, SingPost will resume the deliveries as soon as the major airports in Europe open. Meanwhile, SingPost is also exploring alternatives in the event that the airport closures are extended.
"We wish to advise customers that like all other providers of services that rely on air freight to and from Europe, it will take some time to clear backlogs and customers may experience some delays in delivery," SingPost said in its statement Tuesday.
