SGP targets 52% Formula 1 emission cut by 2028

It will use green fuels like biodiesel and HVO generators to achieve its target.

Singapore GP (SGP) plans to halve its energy emissions from the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix by 2028.

To cut emissions by 52% by 2028, SGP will continue using green fuels like biodiesel and Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) in generators, a practice started last year.

Earlier projects included upgrading all track lights to LED, installing solar panels on the F1® Pit Building, and designing water-efficient container toilets.

In addition, SGP will recycle used cooking oil into biodiesel and increase the use of sustainably sourced tableware throughout Circuit Park.

In 2023, emissions from SGP’s event operations at the F1 night race totalled 1,880.80 tons of CO2e, a 20.7% decrease from the 2022 baseline. This figure excludes freight, logistics, and travel by Formula 1 and teams.

SGP was awarded three stars by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) for its Best Practice in its Environmental Accreditation Programme last year.
