Ryde to roll out door-to-door courier services

They eye to expand their network to around 140,000 motorcycles for the on-demand service.

Ryde Technologies will expand beyond ride-hailing as they will their on-demand door-to-door courier services. RydeSEND will be available from 3 September, an announcement revealed.

Through peer-to-peer courier service, RydeSEND will perform delivery of small items including documents, parcels, flowers, or properly packed meals within 60 minutes as requests will be matched with a nearby driver upon booking.

Users can pay for the service using RydePay. An immediate pickup and delivery by the driver will be placed once booking is accepted and both the sender and receiver can trace the delivery’s status in real-time.

“Peer-to-peer delivery solves the first and last mile problem of a traditional service hub by
providing an alternative that is direct, faster and cheaper,” Ryde founder and CEO Terence Zou commented.

The ride-hailing firm eyes to expand its peer-to-peer network with motorcyclists to around 140,000 motorcycles in service to meet the demand for courier services. In due time, prices of delivering small items will also be expected to drop by another 30% with the entry of more motorcyclists.

The motorcycle courier service is expected to be launched by the end of September.

According to the firm, on-demand delivery pricing will be relatively based on distance, time of day, and includes toll charges incurred for the journey. There will also be an additional door-to-door delivery fee of $6.
