LTA rewards SBST, SMRT for remarkably improved service reliability

They were granted a total of $1.2m.

Commuters of the city-state have been breathing a collective sigh of relief, as the second assessment period of the Bus Service Reliability Framework (BSRF) showed positive results.

According to a statement by the LTA, SBST and SMRT earned $816,000 and $384,000 for improvements to their services.

“These incentives help offset costs, such as the hiring of more service controllers, incurred by the PTOs to support the BSRF,” the LTA said.

The BSRF assessment found out that there were less prolonged waits and passenger loads are now more evenly spread across bus trips. 17 out of 22 services, meanwhile, reduced their Excess Wait times.

SBST was rewarded reliability improvements in 12 services, while SMRT was rewarded for improvements to five services.

“The BSRF trial has been expanded by 12 services in June 2015, with 11 more services joining the trial in December 2015. This brings the total number of services under the trial to 45,” LTA said.
