LTA to raise number of COEs for November to January by 8.9%

The quota for motorcycles will inch up 34.65% to 2,207 per month.

The Land Transport Authority revealed that they will allow for more Certificates of Entitlement (COE) from November to January. The quota for bidding exercises for the next three months will rise by 8.9% to 10,046 from the current 9,225.

In total, the quota for the next three months will hit 30,143.

COE for motorcycles will see the largest increase of 34.65% from the monthly quota of 1,639 in August to October to 2,207 COEs monthly from November to January. For the next three months, total COEs available for motorcycles will hit 6,622.

For small cars, available COEs will rise 9% to 3,631 from the current monthly rate of 3,328. From November to January, small car COEs will total 10,894.

Meanwhile, COEs cars above 1,600cc will decrease 2.29% to a monthly quota of 2,529 for the next three months. In total, 7,414 COEs will be available for larger cars for the said period.

For goods vehicles and buses, COEs will dip 2.37% to a monthly quota of 658. For the three-month period from November to January, a total of 1,976 COEs will be available for the category.

The monthly quota for open COE will inch up by 2.27% to 1,079 for every month from November to January. For the period, a total of 3,237 COEs will be available for the category.

Singapore had frozen the growth rate for the number of cars to zero as it is trying to expand the current road network. The LTA said the adjustments to the vehicle growth rate will not affect the supply of COE, as the quota is determined by the number of vehicle deregistrations.
