LTA procures 111 double-decker buses from ST Engineering for $54m

The buses will comply with the latest Euro 6 engine emission standard.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will procure 111 two-door, double-deck, Euro 6 diesel buses from ST Engineering Land Systems for $54m, an announcement revealed.

“In determining the award of the tender, LTA considered the various aspects of the participating bidders, such as their relevant experience, track records, technical capabilities and compliance with local regulations,” LTA said.

The new buses will progressively arrive in Singapore from 2019 until 2020 in line with LTA’s vision to replace its ageing bus fleet. The vehicles will comply with the Euro 6 engine emission standard which is the latest required for new diesel buses registered from 1 January 2018 onwards.

Aside from cleaner and lower exhaust emissions, LTA said that the buses will have improvements for a safer and more comfortable ride as well as an enhanced Passenger Information Display System.
