LTA appoints Siemens Mobility to power 8th MRT system
The contract is worth approximately $400m (€270m).
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) appointed Siemens Mobility (SMPL) for the Cross Island Line (CRL) project, the country’s eighth Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) System.
The contract is worth approximately $400m SMPL will also lead a consortium along with Concord Corporation for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the power supply.
"Our power supply solutions and signalling systems for the CRL will enable LTA to connect the physical rail infrastructure with the digital world, gaining more value through integrated digital technologies. This will optimise lifecycle costs and provide a safe and reliable commute for CRL passengers,” said Michel Obadia, CEO of Siemens Mobility Singapore and Asia-Pacific.
The CRL will be fully automated and driverless-ready.
