Keppel's Volt secures contract to develop EV fast-charging hub at Jalan Papan
The hub will host up to 80 ultrafast charging points, including 360kW and 120kW DC chargers.
Volt Singapore Pte Ltd (Volt), part of Keppel’s infrastructure division, has secured a major contract to establish and manage a public electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging hub at Jalan Papan.
The contract, awarded by Setsco Services Pte Ltd (Setsco), a subsidiary of VICOM Ltd (VICOM), spans up to 15 years and aims to significantly boost Singapore's EV infrastructure in alignment with the Singapore Green Plan 2030.
The hub will host up to 80 ultrafast charging points, including 360kW and 120kW DC chargers, catering to electric buses, taxis, and private vehicles.
Phase one, expected by mid-2026, will feature five 360kW chargers capable of simultaneously charging up to 30 vehicles, with plans to scale up to 80 buses in subsequent phases.
The group said the initiative will see the deployment of Southeast Asia's largest concentration of public ultrafast chargers at a single site.
“We are excited to partner with Setsco on this groundbreaking project, which marks a significant milestone in Singapore’s journey towards a greener future by providing robust infrastructure for EV charging,” said Lim Yong Wei, executive director of Volt.
“Volt looks forward to supporting the transition to EVs, especially for commercial fleets and electric buses to reduce emissions, promoting sustainable transportation,” he added.
The EV charging infrastructure will be managed and optimized in real-time using artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies from Keppel’s Operations Nerve Centre (ONC) at Keppel Infrastructure@Changi.
