Immigration authority grants speedier clearance to Chinese travellers

They say it would facilitate business links with China.

Singapore’s immigration and checkpoints authority (ICA) hopes that a better travel experience would result in more trade, business, and tourism links as it extends the enhanced automated clearance system (eIACS) service to eligible holders of PRC passports starting 16 November 2015.

According to a statement by the eIACS, PRC passport holders aged six and above who are holding a valid five-year (or longer) Multiple Journey Visa issued by Singapore and have visited Singapore at least three times in the preceding 12 months will be eligible.

The statement adds that enrolment is on a voluntary basis and is free of charge.

“Interested applicants should bring along their PRC passport (with remaining validity of at least six months), one recent colour passport-size photograph and other relevant documents to the enrolment centres located at Changi Airport, Woodlands Checkpoint, Tuas Checkpoint and the ICA Building to apply for this service,” the statement said.

“Those aged between six and 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and present documentary proof of relationship,” the statement added.
