HSR project speeds past another milestone as authorities launch market sensing exercise

Policymakers urge industry feedback on the project.

Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Malaysia’s Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) have jointly taken another step in completing the Kuala Lumpur – Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) project.

The authorities have launched a market sensing exercise by issuing a request for information (RFI). The RFI, which marks the next phase of the project, is designed as a consultation exercise to gauge market interest in the project and gather industry opinion on selected commercial and technical aspects of the project.

“This market sounding exercise marks a major milestone in our HSR journey. It is important for us to be properly informed of the industry views. We want to use this exercise to gauge market interest in the project and solicit views on different models and approaches," said Singapore Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Mr Khaw Boon Wan and Malaysian Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dato’ Sri Abdul Wahid Omar in a joint statement.

The feedback received will inform the ongoing bilateral discussions and the subsequent formal tender process, the authorities said.

The RFI exercise is expected to conclude by the end of the year.  Interested parties should visit SPAD’s website or LTA’s website for more information.
