How did taxi companies fare in the first four months of 2015?

Some taxi companies failed to meet the Land Transport Authority's taxi availability standards in the first four months of 2015.

According to LTA, Prime Taxi failed to meet both the required percentage of taxis on the roads during peak periods and the required percentage of taxis with minimum daily mileage of 250km.

Premier Taxi failed to meet the minimum mileage standard from January to May, and also failed to meet the peak period standard in April.

SMRT failed to meet the minimum daily mileage standard in the first four months of the year but consistently met the required peak hour percentage in the same period.

CityCab has consistently met the peak hour standard in the given period but failed to meet the daily mileage standard in February.

Trans-Cab met the peak hour standard in February, March and April, but failed to meet the daily mileage standard in January and February.

Comfort consistently met both standards in the first four months of the year.

The LTA also said that it will revise its method of computing taxi availability among operators.

“The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will compute Taxi Availability (TA) based on taxi companies’ respective hired-out fleet, instead of their registered fleet. This adjustment takes into account feedback from the National Taxi Association and taxi companies, and will be applied retrospectively from 1 January 2015. The TA standards remain unchanged,” the LTA said.
