Focus on adopting other cleaner vehicle models not only EVs: analyst

Hybrids will also encourage gas stations to adapt to electric vehicles.

Aside from purely focusing on shifting to electric vehicle (EV) models, targets on adopting hybrid models is also necessary in Singapore, analyst, KPMG, said.

Hybrid models of cleaner energy vehicles such as those operated by a mix of ICE and electric motors are needed, especially at a time where prices of vehicles in the market are high. 

“This gives some leeway for operators to test different operating models – such as vehicle sharing and leasing – to find commercially sustainable approaches,” said KPMG.

Shifting to hybrid models will also encourage businesses such as gas stations to make efforts to adapt to the EV ecosystem.

Aside from this, local enterprises and investors should adapt to the EV and hybrid car use.
