ComfortDelGro enroute to being UK’s second largest coach operator

This is following a $15.84m deal with Stagecoach Group.

ComfortDelGro Corporation is on track to serve as the UK’s largest intercity coach operator. 

Following a $15.84m deal with Stagecoach Group PLC, ComfortDelGro will acquire its remaining 35% stake in Scottish Cityink Coached Limited. This would turn into a wholly-owned subsidiary of the ComofrtDelGro Group.

As part of the agreement, the group will also acquire the marketing, retail, and customer service activities of Stagecoach’s Megabus UK coach business and the Falcon Coach Services.

“The Scottish Citylink, Megabus and the Falcon Service acquisitions provide us with an excellent platform to further grow our coach business in the UK. We intend to leverage on the experience we have gained in our existing operations to roll out new and innovative services for our passengers in England, Wales and Scotland as we position ourselves for post-COVID recovery. We will continue to look at opportunities to grow our businesses in the UK, which remains one of our most significant investment destinations,” said Yang Ban Seng, Managing Director/Group CEO, ComfortDelGro.

With the completion of this acquisition, ComfortDelGroup will see an increase in inter-city coaches operated across the UK to 150, with the deal expected to be completed by end of February 2022. This also puts the market share of the group at 11%.
