Auto marketplace Carro unveils car subscriptions in Singapore

The priciest plan allows users to rent a Mercedes or BMW for $1,999 a month.

Auto marketplace Carro launched Singapore’s first subscription-based car service, which allows consumers to select a plan and drive off with a car of their choice, an announcement revealed.

Through the subscription-based service, users can pay a flat monthly fee that includes all costs associated with car ownership - insurance, road tax, warranty, 24-hour assistance, and maintenance costs. At the end of the term, customers can return the car with no questions asked about minor wear and tear, dents and scratches, Carro said.

The service is available in three plans - Daily ($1,199 a month for cars like the Volkswagen Golf and Toyota Altis), Roomy ($1,499 a month for cars like SUVs and 7-seaters), and Fancy ($1,999 a month for cars like Mercedes and BMW).

“Car owners can start out with a compact vehicle, move to an SUV or MPV when starting a family, and eventually upgrade to a luxury car. Users can choose to return the car anytime,” Carro said.

In response to queries from Singapore Business Review, Carro said there is no minimum amount of time for the subscription.

Carro currently offers its services to Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia.
